What should you consider?

  • Cost of an average loft conversion varies considerably. They range from a basic conversion with floor strengthening, insulating and loft ladder. This cost will rise once a full staircase is included with VELUX windows. Adding an additional room, dormer windows, bathrooms and balconies will take the cost up again.
  • Planning; the planning requirements for a loft conversion need to be taken care of professionally. Our architect should be able to take care of this from start to finish. An initial consultation will be free of charge; this will confirm the feasibility and the planning requirements.
  • Time; An average size loft conversion with x 2 VELUX windows and a staircase should take approximately 5-6 weeks. Obviously the more you have done i.e. bathrooms etc will add to the time it takes.
  • Disruption is a major factor to consider especially when there are small children involved. Disruption can be kept to a minimum with careful planning and consultation between our management team and appointed site supervisors.
  • Electrics & Plumbing will need to be assessed for suitability. I.e. will the boiler support another bathroom and more radiators etc. Are the electrics up to a modern standard incompliance with part p of the building regulations? Is an upgrade needed i.e a new consumer unit (Fuse box).?
  • Materials are a key factor to the quality and finish of any job.   • Experience, is key to a project being finished to the highest of standards, on time and within budget. Our loft conversion teams only do conversions which make them specialists in their field. Our Contracts manager double checks all measurements and levels when setting out, whether this is the foundations or steel supports in your loft.
  • Being kept informed, is very important, with weekly meetings arranged between the clients, site supervisor and our contracts manager. An update of progress is sent regularly with an excel spreadsheet being updated and emailed
